New year, new life!

Goodness, this blog has been collecting virtual dust for the past 4 months.

Life has been hectic since the start of term in September in a strangely pleasant way, and of course, sleep has been top priority for every free moment that I've been getting  ;)

2013 has actually barged into my life more subtly than I had expected-- I somehow still feel like I'm stuck in some weird 2012 daze, probably because I was away on New Year's Eve in another unexpected realm of wedding craziness in Pakistan, and just never got around to doing the usual
end-of-year reflection to give myself 'closure' to look forward to a new year.

Looking back on my 2012 resolutions,
I'm actually quite proud of myself to have stuck by them for so long.
In previous years my resolutions were usually long forgotten by the end of day four!

2012 was quite the eventful year for me, and at times it was amusing:

I applied for more than 300 firms but ended up waitressing full time anyway, parted with my housemate and best friend of 3 years (plenty of tears shed), got a new lovely housemate, went to an Olympic event! went home after 3 years! started my masters, which is hectic in a pleasant yet enjoyable way, got traumatised by a chicken slaughterhouse on my site and stopped eating chicken for 2 months, drank more than half a kilo of coffee grounds in a span of 7 weeks, actually slept for the first time before a crit and hand in, met up with my childhood best friends, fine-dined for the first time at Gordon Ramsey's restaurant, watched stand-up comedy live in London, turned 24 with a birthday surprise from my colleagues at work, spent christmas eating glorious lamb with Vanessa's family, spent 5 days in Pakistan and loved it, watched my beautiful best friend get married and ended 2012 helping her unpack her new life in her new home.

resolutions for 2013?

1.Continue to smile, laugh, enjoy and appreciate life more
(since wrinkles are going to start settling in very soon they might as well be laugh lines!)
2.Try again for a placement in a firm this summer-- maybe i'll have better luck this time
3. Read at least 1 non-architecture book in a month to broaden my worldly views and keep my mental well being sane
4. Be on a roll with the travel bug!

Till the next post and
Happy New Year!

  1. Waa those photomontages/drawings at the top look so good Kim! :D At times I feel like I've learnt nothing (useful) in Architecture. :/ Definitely battling so many demons (mostly inside my head) in Part 2 so far... it doesn't get easier, ever.

Till we see you one dayyy (God willing), take care and keep smiling+laughing+appreciating!

  2. Thank you dear! But you know what, photoshopping is my only strongest skill at the moment, anything to do with Rhino and 3d modelling of crazy things I'll hide in my shell for fear of them haha. The good part is we're halfway through the first year ;)

Really hope to see you guys this year!!
