"When you’re holding onto a relationship, it’s usually more about attachment than love.
Love wants for the other person’s happiness.
Fear wants to hold onto whatever appears to make you happy so you don’t have to feel the alternative."
Tiny Buddha
Today, I finally realise that my intentions have been off the mark all this while.
For fear of change, I have manipulated love to conditionally suit my needs and selfishness..
It's equivalent to a parent locking the children up for fear of losing them to maturity, college, marriage and life. The parent may never have to go through the pain of parting with the children, but he or she will never discover the new journey which will uncover their strengths and capabilities of coping and moving forward with life either. And at the same time, the children will never be happy having never lived life the way they intended to. It's true that sometimes, to love someone means to set them free.
It's time to stop hitting the rewind button and move forward.
