Bedtime stories

Things I find myself reading right before drifting to sleep:-

1.Synopsis for Human Centipede.
2.Torture stories during the Holocaust and medical experiments on human beings by Josef Mengele.
(Horrific, especially his interest in children and twins. What a sick, sick man.)
3.Torture stories during the Japanese Occupation.
4.Torture stories and treatment of inmates in Guantanamo Bay.
5.Russian doctor who self performed an appendectomy because he was the only doctor present at a congress when his appendix burst.
6.Interview of Aron Ralston, the mountaineer, describing how he amputated his own arm with a climbing multitool after being pinned to the boulder for about 6 days, which also inspired the movie 127 Hours. (My hand turned into jelly after hearing him tell the story on a Youtube video)
7.News about a man in Graz, Austria who sawed his own foot off and threw it in the oven so it could no longer be reattached by surgeon. (He wanted to claim benefits for unemployment or something of the like)
8.A talk from Ted.com titled "Let's talk about Death."
9. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Africa, and the life of Waris Dirie, the Somalian supermodel who went through the ordeal and became a spokesperson against FGM.
10. A whole load of random medical stuff ranging from crabs (pubic lice, gag!) to rewiring broken jaws.

I'm not a sicko, psycho or sadist, and in most of the things I read, I find myself feeling horrified and sick. But somehow, I always end up reading disturbing material before bedtime.
I think my mum's nature of a medic indifferent to disturbing situations are starting to rub off on me.
